Read the case and answer the following questions. Each question is worth 10 points. Please type your answer using Microsoft Word and attach the file. Draw tables or figures as it deems necessary. This is an open-book and open-note exam, but do not plagiarize.

  1. Develop the current strategic posture of the company. What is the company’s strategy? Where does their competitive advantage lie? Is the strategy working? If not, why?
  2. What is the business model of the company? Conduct the value chain analysis (refer to the lecture slide and chapter 5 for details). How can the company create value for the customers?
  3. Draw strategic group analysis of the industry. Where does the company stand? Is there any segment for the company to penetrate into?
  4. Complete External Factor Analysis table (refer to Chapter 12), and explain why you gave the weight to each factor?
  5. What are the strengths and weaknesses facing the company? Explain in details.
  6. Scan functional resources and capabilities of the company. Are they coherent? Are they aligned with the core competences? If not, how should the company streamline their functional resources and capabilities with the strategy?
  7. Complete Internal Factor Analysis table (refer to Table 5-2 on p. 164), and explain why you gave the weight to each factor?
  8. Complete TOWS matrix. Explain at least three alternative. Which strategy would you suggest for implementation? Why is it better than the other alternatives and relevant for the company?
  9. What business programs, budgets and procedures would you formulate to execute the strategy? Provide rationales.
