Assignment 1 — Introductory Essay
Type and double space the final draft of the following assignment and mail it to the instructor by the due date.
Remember to attach a proper title page (see title page template on website).

1. Create a cover letter for this assignment using the cover page template for style.

Write a 2 page cover letter in which you outline your background in writing, in and out of the classroom. Answer all questions. Hint: The patterns exercise from sections 1.1 to 1.3 of Lesson 1 may help you to answer some of these questions.

What is your attitude toward writing? What types of writing do you like to read? Why? What types of writing do you like to do? What is your current writing practice? That is what do you do from the time an assignment is given to you until you actually hand it in?

Concerning Writing: What is your history in writing? How many College or University English courses and grade 12 or higher English courses have you taken? What things are you good at (in writing)? Name at least three. What things do you need to work on (in writing)? Name at least three. What is your goal for the course and how do you expect to accomplish it?

How important is writing to your life now? How important is writing to your future?
