Hubbard House delivering assistance to Human Trafficking victims.

A study completed by the Urban Institute and released in March 2014 brought to light the darkness of the sex trafficking industry. To successfully have a sex trafficking industry they have to start with human trafficking.  The study brought some facts that were very startling. The team interviewed convicted pimps and sex traffickers. The interviewees admitted that they made about $5,000 to $32,833 a week. To no one surprise the pimps take home pay was a lot more than the prostitutes “(Study sheds light on dark sex trafficking industry”, 2014).  Currently in the news is the arrest of twenty-five people and recovered one child in the Jacksonville, Florida area involved in sex-trafficking.  “Human trafficking is a monstrous and devastating crime that steals lives and degrades our nation,” U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch said in a news release.  In a sting conducted by undercover detectives from Jacksonville, Clay County and Nassau County, Florida these arrest were possible and included rescuing a child as young as twelve years old (“FBI arrests 25 in Jacksonville during national sex-trafficking sting | jacksonville.com,” 2015)  What happens next for the victims?

Hubbard House has been and continues to be an award-winning pioneer in the field. In all that this organizations accomplishes, victim safety is their top priority. This organization shelters approximately 90 victims and their children each day and provide services to over 5,000 victims a year. Usually case management involves seeking services and providing referrals to different agencies. Hubbard House also has a thrift store that provides vouchers to clients.  Hubbard House uses technology to assist in providing their services.  In the ways to “Break the Silence” it encourages individuals to connect with Hubbard House using social media networks such  as Facebook, Twitter, WordPress, YouTube, ect.  In addition to government funding the Hubbard House Foundation, Inc recruits and invests endowed gifts that ensures the stability of the agency (“Hubbard House,” 2015).
